60 years ago today, Hammer Horror’s Dracula was unleashed in UK cinemas

The terrifying lover who died – yet lived!

1958-DraculaDracula is a British horror film based on Bram Stoker’s novel of the same name. The first in the series of Hammer Horror films, as Count Dracula, Christopher Lee fixed the image of the fanged vampire in popular culture.

Dracula was a critical and commercial success upon its release and was well received by critics and fans of Stoker’s works.

Lee did not appear in the sequel, The Brides of Dracula (1960) but would return in 1966’s Dracula: Prince of Darkness.
