30 years ago today…

03-28-1988-Heaven_for_everyone_-_singlecoverQueen drummer Roger Taylor‘s side project, The Cross, released “Heaven for Everyone” from their debut album Shove It. Originally recorded for the album with lead vocals by Freddie Mercury, the single release featured Taylor singing lead. The single peaked at UK #83.

The song was reworked in 1995 as a Queen song, on Made In Heaven.

20 years ago today…

Celine_Dion-Lets_talk_about_loveCeline Dion was at No 1 in the UK albums chart with Let’s Talk About Love. This was the album’s third appearance at the top, this time for one week, completing a total of five weeks. It was certified 6x Platinum.

Not forgetting…

  • Simon & Garfunkel were at No 1 in the UK singles chart with “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in 1970
  • “This Ole House” was No 1 in the UK singles chart for Shakin’ Stevens in 1981
  • In 1987, Mel & Kim were No 1 with “Respectable”
